Modern Cabin Glamping At Autocamp, Yosemite

IMG_1181.jpg

Yosemite National Park is fabulous in all 4 seasons and has great choices of lodging options inside the park. However, now there is a growing list of amazing modern glamping options just outside the National Parks, that let you enjoy outdoor adventure, the parks, and the local towns alike.

This past February (Mid-Winter holidays in California), our family got a chance to experience the ultimate in National Park glamping! An outdoor experience in modern cabins (“Tiny Container Homes”) from the folks at Autocamp, Yosemite in Midpines, California.  Nestled among in the wooded hills, just off Hwy 140, it’s just 35m min beautiful drive to Yosemite National Park entrance at Arch Rock and 10 min from the historic gold rush era town of Mariposa.

Why I Liked It

  • Modern lux cabins (tiny container homes), perfect for a family of 3 - warm and cozy!

  • Vista cabins are located by the pond with glistening silver airstreams across - making it a beautiful outdoor glamping setup!

  • Complimentary mountain bikes - delivered to your door. Use an onsite mountain trail or take to the park!!

  • Four Seasons like guest service - super responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful

  • Spa-inspired bathrooms and amenities (Ursa Majors)

  • No camping utensils are required! - Fully-equipped kitchenette (cookware, french coffee press, detergent)

  • Fresh ground coffee from Equator Coffees

  • Super nice modern multi-level clubhouse with seasonal pool and BBQ and a well-stocked pantry

  • Quiet, woodsy, open spaces (perfect for social distancing during the current pandemic!)

  • Easy access to the iconic Yosemite National Park and charming towns of Mariposa

  • Eco-friendly and mindful travel setup (loved well-placed recycling + trash receptacle throughout the property)

  • Within 3 hour drive from San Francisco!

The Vibe

  • Mid Century Modern Luxury

  • Eco-Friendly Glamping

  • Warm and inviting wide-open spaces - nice socially distanced!

  • Easy Outdoor Adventure for the Family

The Digs

Autocamp, Yosemite is one of their largest properties with about 70+ modern Airstream suites, luxury canvas tents, and roomy accessible “tiny home-style” suites nicely spread across the wooded hills and a pond. All The Suites come equipped with luxurious beds, heating, airconditioning, spa-inspired bathrooms, robes, towels, and a kitchenette. The Vista AccessibleCabin Suites (where we stayed) has a private patio with a gas-powered fireplace in addition to campfire seating and a fire pit with a grill facing the pond!.  All very cozy and comfy, especially if you go during the fall/winter season!

Tip: For family of 3 recommend the Vista Accessible Cabin Suite or the Vista or Premium Airstream suite For families of 4, I suggest the luxury tent (2 adults + 2 children) or the Premium Base Camp (Airstream+Tent) spacious for 4 and nice for a group of 6. Book at least 60-90 days in advance.
Note: All Vista tagged accomodations are to the back of the property - quieter, on the hills or near the pond. The two Classic Cabin suites are interestingly right at the entrance and parking lot - not a big fan of their location.

Experiences

Autocamp’s location close to iconic Yosemite National Park gives one amazing choice of experiences to choose from - both within and outside the park. Clearly, there is so much to see and do in Yosemite, that even 3 days is not enough.

At Autocamp Yosemite, enjoy a brisk mountain bike ride on the trails, experience brewing outdoor coffee by the pond, or “wine down” in the evening with some wine and roasting marshmallows under the starry sky.

For the adventure seekers, consider Sunrise at the Tunnel View, an evening experiencing the magical Yosemite “Firefall” (occurs only once a year in mid-February), hike the Yosemite Valley loop, including the lower and upper Yosemite falls. For the super thrill-seeker, plan a guided hike to the half-dome.

For more details on experiences like skydiving, flyfishing, snowshoeing at Badger Pass, or guided hiking tours with REI and Wildland Trekking, check out the curated list from Autocamp. Read More..
