Airstream Glamping At Autocamp, Russian River

DSC00529.jpg

Sonoma Wine Country is famous for of course great wines, food, and bed and breakfasts. But few venture west towards Sonoma Coasts jagged coastline and towering Redwood forest preserves.

This past November (Thanksgiving Holidays in America), our family got a chance to experience the ultimate in glamping! An outdoor experience in modern Airstreams from the folks at Autocamp Russian River in Sonoma, California.  Nestled among giant Redwood trees, it’s within 5 min biking from the charming town of Guerneville, beautiful wineries,  river kayaking, and hiking trails.

Why I Liked It

  • Modern Airstreams with luxurious boutique hotel bedding linens (super comfy!)

  • Spa-inspired bathrooms and amenities (Ursa Majors)

  • No camping utensils are required! - Fully-equipped kitchenette (cookware, french coffee press, detergent)

  • Fresh ground coffee (in nitro packed bags from Steeped Coffee)

  • Complimentary Linus Cycles

  • Modern open-air clubhouse

  • Quiet, woodsy, open spaces (perfect for social distancing during the current pandemic!)

  • Easy access to wineries, beaches, restaurants, charming towns (Guerneville and Sebastopol)

  • Eco-friendly and mindful travel setup (loved well-placed recycling + trash receptacle throughout the property)

  • Less than 90 min drive from San Francisco!

The Vibe

  • Mid Century Modern Luxury

  • Eco-Friendly Glamping

  • Easy Outdoor Adventure for the Family

The Digs

Autocamp, Russian River has about 30+ modern Airstream suites, luxury canvas tents, and roomy accessible suites. All Suites come equipped with luxurious beds, heating, airconditioning, spa-inspired bathrooms, robes, towels, and a kitchenette. They also have a private patio with campfire seating and a fire pit with a grill.  All very cozy and comfy, especially if you go during the fall/winter season!

Tip: For a family of 3, recommend the Premium Suite Airstream or the roomy Accessible suite. For families of 4, add the luxury tent for the kids and couples for the Happy Campier Camper! Book at least 60-90 days in advance.

Note: Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only plates and cups (recyclable material) were provided.

The Food

Other Dining Options: Definitely try and savor local food from restaurants in nearby charming towns of Guerneville and The Barlow (Sebastopol). Guerneville: Boon Eat + Drink (Hip Californian), Stumptown Brewery, Guerneville Bank Club (Pies + Ice cream), Gold Coast Bakery (15min drive). The Barlow: Taylor Lane Coffee, Acre Pizza, Barrio Fresca Cocina Mexicana, Two Dog Night (nitro ice-cream!)

Experiences

At the Autocamp Russian River, you can pretty much create your own experience. For the adventure seekers, get a nice workout with a bike ride to Johnson Beach, rent a kayak to row down the Russian River, or hike to Jenner Headlands and Armstrong Redwoods (giant trees!) Preserves. For the foodie experience, experience the farm-to-table scene in Guerneville and Sebastopol with some amazing wine tasting at La Crema, Korbel, and Russian River Valley wineries. And if that's not enough, grab a marshmallow kit from the Autocamp shop and enjoy the evening under the skies at your private Airstream.
